Assistant Store Manager - Victory Crossing Shopping Center, Portsmouth, VA

We are seeking dedicated employees to help ensure our customers have the best experience possible every time they enter a DTLR store.

Position Summary: The primary purpose of the Assistant Store Manager is to support the Store Manager in daily store operations, maximizing sales and profitability through merchandising, managing expenses and inventory, training staff, and delivering outstanding customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the quality and performance of the store staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve store goals and training standards.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and developing store personnel.
  • Contribute to performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
  • Assist with expense management and develop strategies to meet budget goals.
  • Monitor store operations to prevent loss and ensure compliance with safety and business standards.
  • Support employee training in selling and merchandising techniques.
  • Uphold company customer service standards to provide a friendly shopping environment.
  • Assist with merchandise inventory counts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) year retail management experience.

  • Strong business knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • High interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Ability to think strategically, organize, and prioritize effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel.
