This is a full-time, salaried role with overtime eligibility that offers an exceptional benefits package and a store discount. The role involves learning and working across all store functions, including facilities maintenance, personnel management, sales, inventory control, merchandising, accounting, and customer service. The successful candidate will be eligible for promotion to Assistant Store Manager after a 6-month training program.

Note: This position is designed for and expected to be performed in Litchfield, CT.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervisory responsibilities such as scheduling, managing the store in the absence of the Store Manager, and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, personnel, and safety rules.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and maintenance throughout the store, warehouse, pole buildings, equipment, vehicles, and grounds.
• Ensuring facilities are secure and all security and safety systems are operational.
• Coordinating displays with advertising for sales efficiency, considering seasonal products and customer traffic.
• Monitoring competitors' prices and testing new market products.
• Placing product orders according to company policies using appropriate forms.
• Maintaining inventory levels for optimal turnover and profitability.
• Supervising monthly feed and non-feed cycle counts.
• Managing daily cash and bank deposits securely and preparing daily cash reports.

EDUCATION:

• Associate’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 1 year of retail management experience preferred.
• Interest or experience in lawn and garden, agriculture, and animals (pets and livestock).
• Strong customer service skills and ability to multitask.
• Experience with handling cash and credit card transactions.
