Position Objective

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in promoting a customer and product-focused sales culture, managing sales operations, asset protection, and human resources functions to ensure great customer experience and maximum profitability. Functional Responsibilities
Performance Culture
  • Analyzes sales reports and KPIs to determine business needs; executes in-store business and sales strategies in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Establishes and communicates clear expectations, holding store team and themselves accountable for achieving all brand, performance, and behavior standards.
  • Controls payroll and supply budget.
  • Performs operational activities such as scheduling, inventory management, opening and closing duties, and merchandise flow.
  • Handles financial activities including cash handling, price changes, and register transactions in accordance with policies.
  • Ensures compliance with laws, loss prevention policies, and operating procedures; conducts associate training on controls.
  • Manages inventory receipt, dispatch, replenishment, and physical inventories.
  • Maintains visual presentation, organization, and facility standards.
  • Develops a high-performance culture, motivating the sales team to meet sales and productivity goals.
  • Trains and coaches staff on product knowledge and sales techniques.
Building High Performing Teams
  • Motivates and inspires the store team, fostering a shared vision and core values.
  • Promotes an inclusive, collaborative environment.
  • Communicates effectively with team and Store Manager to lead positive change.
  • Seeks personal development and feedback to enhance leadership skills.
Customer Experience
  • Models and promotes the Most Amazing Personal Service (MAPS) principles, offering an omni-channel experience.
  • Uses sales techniques and product knowledge to assist customers and recommend merchandise.
  • Resolves customer concerns promptly.
  • Ensures efficient register operations and adherence to payment, return, and security policies.
  • Maintains ongoing customer communication through loyalty programs and customer capture efforts.
Talent
  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, and developing a high-performing team.
  • Supports training programs and assesses staff performance.
  • Resolves HR issues effectively and timely.
  • Recognizes and rewards employee performance to drive engagement.
  • Ensures adherence to employment policies and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This role may vary across brands, and some duties may differ accordingly.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years retail management experience preferred.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to company technology.
  • Proven customer service, sales, and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Leadership qualities and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of store operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant walking/standing (67-100% of shift).
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (1-33% of shift).
  • Frequent climbing (34-66% of shift).
