Position Objective
The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in promoting a customer and product-focused sales culture, managing sales operations, asset protection, and human resources functions to ensure a great customer experience and maximum profitability. Functional Responsibilities
Performance Culture
- Analyzes sales reports and KPIs to determine business needs; executes in-store business and sales strategies in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Establishes and communicates clear expectations, holding the team and themselves accountable for achieving brand, performance, and behavior standards.
- Controls payroll and supply budgets.
- Performs operational activities such as scheduling, audits, inventory, opening/closing duties, timesheet review, and merchandise flow.
- Handles financial activities including cash handling, price changes, and register transactions in accordance with policies.
- Ensures compliance with laws, loss prevention policies, and operating procedures; conducts associate training on controls.
- Manages inventory receipt, dispatch, replenishment, and physical inventories.
- Maintains visual presentation, organization, and facility standards.
- Develops a high-performance culture, motivating the sales team to meet goals.
- Trains and coaches staff on product knowledge and sales techniques.
Building High Performing Teams
- Motivates and inspires the team, fostering shared vision and core values.
- Encourages an inclusive, collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Communicates effectively with the team and Store Manager to lead positive change.
- Seeks personal development and feedback to enhance leadership skills.
Customer Experience
- Promotes MAPS principles for personal service and omni-channel experience.
- Utilizes sales techniques and product knowledge to enhance customer experience.
- Resolves customer concerns promptly.
- Ensures efficient register operations and adherence to payment policies.
- Maintains ongoing customer communication and rewards programs.
Talent
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, and developing the team.
- Supports training programs and assesses performance.
- Resolves HR issues in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Recognizes and rewards outstanding employee performance.
- Ensures adherence to employment policies.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of retail management experience preferred
- Must be 18 or older
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to learn company technology
- Proven customer service and leadership skills
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
- Knowledge of store operations
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Constant walking/standing (67-100%)
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (1-33%)
- Frequent climbing (34-66%)
