To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of Goodwill Retail Store to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.

Function

Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager is responsible for all aspects of donor door, donation production, team member training, and supporting daily store operations.

Essential Responsibilities

Supervises and performs all retail store responsibilities, including:

  • Ensuring 100% world-class customer service.
  • Opening and closing the store as required.
  • Hiring, training, developing, supervising, and evaluating team members under Store Manager supervision.
  • Managing donations, including proper handling and processing.
  • Scheduling and maintaining labor and payroll in accordance with policies.
  • Maintaining store image, security, and loss prevention.
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies within budget.
  • Responsible for safety inspections, incident reports, purchase orders, team meetings, report accuracy, scheduling, and other operational tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least two years of management/supervisory experience in retail preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to bend, reach, stand for long periods, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Repetitive motion tasks and manual dexterity required.
Special Requirements
  • Must open and close the store at least twice a week, reliably and on time.
  • Reliable transportation required.

  • Efficiency, transaction value, donor value, sales per labor hour, sales vs budget, payroll management, profit, retention, training, and safety metrics.
