Position Overview:
The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager in overseeing store operations, managing staff, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. This role includes responsibilities related to both the retail candy store and the ice cream parlor, with a focus on operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support:
- Assist in managing daily operations of the retail store and ice cream parlor, including opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and maintaining store cleanliness.
- Ensure ice cream and candy products are prepared, stored, and served according to health and safety guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for supplies as needed.
- Team Leadership:
- Support the Store Manager in recruiting, training, and supervising retail and parlor staff to create a positive work environment.
- Provide coaching and feedback to staff to ensure exceptional customer service and adherence to company policies.
- Assist in scheduling employees to meet customer demand while maintaining labor cost targets.
- Lead by example to encourage teamwork and a customer-focused culture.
- Customer Experience:
- Ensure all customers receive prompt, friendly, and high-quality service.
- Train staff to provide excellent product knowledge, upselling techniques, and personalized recommendations for both chocolate and ice cream offerings.
- Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and effectively to maintain satisfaction and loyalty.
- Support the execution of promotions, events, and seasonal initiatives to enhance customer engagement.
- Financial Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring sales trends, revenue, and expenses, identifying areas for improvement.
- Support the Store Manager in implementing strategies to drive sales and maximize profitability.
- Ensure accurate cash handling procedures and adherence to financial policies.
- Quality Assurance:
- Uphold Malley's Chocolates' reputation for excellence by maintaining the highest standards of product quality and presentation.
- Train staff in proper food handling techniques and sanitation practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in retail or food service management, preferably in the confectionery or ice cream industry. Not required.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-centric mindset.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Solid understanding of retail operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and customer service best practices.
- Knowledge of ice cream parlor operations, including food safety standards, portion control, and equipment maintenance is a plus.
