OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an Assistant Store Manager of Operations to join our new Durham, NC House of Sport store team!

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with the Store Manager on the long-term management of the store workforce. Oversee payroll to meet budget, effectively schedule teammates based on athlete traffic, analyze sales reports, and react accordingly.
  2. Hire and build strong teams by collaborating with the Store Manager to develop targeted hiring strategies that actively recruit within the community, ensuring the team reflects the community served.
  3. Lead coaching and development efforts, handle teammate discipline, conduct appraisals, and make recommendations regarding teammate termination and advancement.
  4. Plan, organize, and control store operations 90 days in advance with guidance from the Store Manager. Identify opportunities to improve the shopping experience and validate key in-store programs and processes (e.g., BOPIS, ship-from-store).
  5. Manage team in assigned departments and have a dotted line responsibility for teammates in other areas when serving as Head Coach. Ensure merchandising standards are met, including merchandise exposure, visual presentation, pricing, and signage.
  6. Hold teammates accountable for operational guidelines, brand standards, customer service expectations, and company policies.
  7. Ensure compliance with all operational processes, including firearm regulations (if applicable), cash handling, safety, and conduct Loss Prevention audits. Promote safety and security practices, possibly serving as store 'Shrink Coach.'
  8. Prioritize training, coaching, and development, fostering a learning environment through accountability, motivation, hands-on coaching, and stretch assignments. Develop development plans collaboratively and make recommendations regarding teammate progression.
  9. Maintain a people-first culture by engaging with teammates, building mutual trust and respect, and fostering a high-energy, engaging environment.
  10. Create an inclusive store environment where everyone feels safe, welcome, and encouraged to bring their best self to work. Support opportunities for teammates to give back to the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • 1-3 years of retail management or customer-focused experience
