Position Purpose
Assistant Store Managers in Training are learning the various responsibilities and functions of roles such as Assistant Store Manager, Operations Assistant Store Manager, Night Operations Assistant Store Manager, and Specialty Assistant Store Manager. They will support the Store Manager in developing strategies and objectives to drive store sales and profitability, primarily through effective leadership and communication with their Associates.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise customer service initiatives, including supervising associates in selling efforts, ensuring the store's in-stock position, and maintaining an appealing and organized store appearance. Support these through staffing, scheduling, resolving stock deficiencies, and addressing customer issues.
- Supervise store associates by interviewing, hiring, motivating, coaching, training, developing, and communicating effectively. Learn the performance management process, including semi-annual reviews and disciplinary procedures.
- Manage operations including supervision of front-end processes like sales, returns, special services, and lot support. Oversee back-end processes such as receiving and stocking merchandise, maintaining equipment, and managing daily financial operations, with a focus on safety compliance.
- Drive business analysis and merchandise planning by analyzing sales trends, working with partners to plan merchandise placement and signage, and supporting inventory management to ensure stock integrity.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports
- Report to a Store Manager. Upon completing training, gradually assume responsibility for supervising associates' work activities.
Travel Requirements
- Typically requires less than 10% overnight travel.
Physical Requirements
- Mostly sitting with opportunities to move; occasional lifting of light articles.
Working Conditions
- Indoor, comfortable environment with infrequent unpleasant conditions.
