Role Overview

As a full-time Assistant Store Manager, you are passionate about providing the best shoe store experience for the whole family through customer engagement. You act as the store leader in the absence of the Store Manager, developing your ability to motivate a team to achieve sales targets and growth goals. You support an in-store culture where customers say, “I’ll take it” and remain loyal to your store, our brands, and our company. Enthusiastic about shoes and store presentation, you stay updated on trends and help educate your team. Most importantly, you LOVE shoes and aim to share that Famous Feeling with every customer.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Inspire Customer Connection: Foster a caring, customer-focused culture, coaching associates on selling behaviors that enhance customer relationships.
  2. Talent Discovery: Proactively seek and network with external talent, collaborating with the Store Manager on hiring passionate individuals.
  3. Support Retail Operations & Staffing: Manage daily store operations, including pricing, inventory, and staffing levels, ensuring smooth functioning.
  4. Leverage Insights: Take accountability for sales goals, using observations to improve results continually.
  5. Build Store Culture: Promote diversity, inclusivity, and a positive environment, leading by example to increase retention and team effort.
  6. Assist Store Manager: Step in as acting manager when needed, ensuring policy compliance and developing internal talent.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • At least 1 year of sales experience, retail preferred.
  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop staff.
  • Independent judgment and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic retail knowledge and computer skills.
  • Flexible schedule including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 40 lbs regularly, using proper techniques.
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting.
  • Extended mobility on the sales floor.
