Job Description

The Assistant Store Manager contributes to the overall financial performance of the store including product merchandising/stocking, expense control, and achievement of sales and profitability goals. Manages the operations of the front-end to ensure all purchases are accurately recorded and that employees are trained in shrink control and customer service. Works closely with the Store Manager to execute the Annual Operating Plan and related programs. Trains and develops front-end staff and ensures store adherence to all loss prevention procedures. Performs Manager-on-duty functions and other duties as required.

Schedule & Pay

Schedule: Mon to SAT

Pay: $17/HR

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coach employees to provide efficient and friendly service.
  • Availability to work days, nights, weekends, including closing responsibilities.
  • Address personnel and performance issues, including coaching and warnings.
  • Consult with Store Manager and HR on disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with personnel policies.
  • Understand the Annual Operating Plan and its impact on monthly P&L.
  • Assist in budgeting and manage shrinkage, especially at the front-end.
  • Participate in inventory processes.
  • Train front-end employees on required programs.
  • Ensure store policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed.
  • Handle hiring, onboarding, and training of staff.
  • Provide daily direction to staff, including scheduling and goal setting.
  • Plan and oversee in-store demonstrations and merchandising programs.
  • Oversee receiving, restocking, and product displays.
  • Communicate merchandising and marketing initiatives to staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Operating Procedures
  • Analyze store reports to evaluate expenses and performance.
  • Address variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Schedule staff to meet business needs.
  • Ensure understanding of emergency procedures.
  • Support company policies and procedures.
Supervision & Relationships

Supervises: Sales Associates

Internal Relationships: Interacts with employees at all levels.

External Relationships: Interacts with customers and service providers.

Work Environment

Retail store setting, exposure to weather, moderate noise, and physical activities including climbing and lifting.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED

Physical Qualifications

Ability to perform physical activities as detailed, including standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and manipulating objects, with specified frequencies.

Compensation & Benefits

Base rate: $15-$20/hr, depending on experience and location. Overtime included. Benefits may include health insurance, retirement, paid time off, disability, stock purchase plan, life insurance.
