Position Summary

Responsible for coordinating shipping and receiving of merchandise inventories, maintaining all pertinent records, delivering merchandise orders to customers as necessary, and assisting the store manager in the daily operation of the store located on military bases. This includes supervising staff, scheduling appropriate coverage during store hours, ensuring exceptional customer support, effective and efficient retail operations, and sound business practices.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions Include

Shipping and Receiving:

  • Receive all merchandise into the warehouse and ensure the accompanying paperwork is accurate.
  • Load and unload trucks with a forklift, moving merchandise to appropriate storage areas.
  • Release quantities of merchandise to the sales floor.
  • Package, label, and ship all orders efficiently.
  • Maintain an organized file of purchase orders to be received.
  • Check incoming merchandise for quantity, description, and damage, reporting discrepancies to the responsible vendor and Store Manager.
  • Complete receiving reports, attach to P.O. copies from the file, and forward to Purchasing.
  • Inventory internet orders according to packing lists and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
  • Process returns through vendors and internet order websites.
  • Call trucking companies to arrange pick-up of shipments.
  • Maintain accurate manual inventory records.
  • Segregate any defective materials in the “Merchandise Hold Area.”
  • Organize, maintain, and clean the warehouse and immediate work area, and maintain an adequate supply of shipping supplies.
  • Make arrangements for deliveries to customers as needed.
  • Load merchandise onto delivery vehicle prior to deliveries.
  • Deliver merchandise to outside customers, operate Envision delivery vehicles safely and respectfully, and obtain delivery receipt signatures.

Store Management Assistance

  • Assist the Store Manager with maintaining employees' work schedules to ensure the store is properly staffed during all scheduled store hours.
  • Assist in the management of 2 to 10 employees.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily sales accounting and reconciliation.
  • Assist in the security of store inventory.
  • Help maintain exceptional quality and customer service standards.
  • Assist in training new employees, identifying, and conducting training for all employees as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintain compliance with established safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform outside sales calls on local businesses, ensuring the store appearance is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Promote Ability One sales.
  • Assist the Store Manager in coordinating with the BSC Director of Retail Operations on promotions and special sales events, looking for opportunities to promote the store.
  • Develop and coordinate effective merchandising efforts.
  • Assist the Store Manager with the implementation and adherence to legal compliance and all Envision policies and procedures.
  • Actively maintain employee morale.

Flexibility And Additional Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager and/or Manager of store Operations.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; some college coursework in business preferred. One to two years of previous experience in warehouse and delivery driver positions is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with other personnel concerning operation, safety, and overall performance of equipment.
  • Ability to drive a forklift truck and delivery vehicle and maintain a current valid state driver’s license and driving record. Basic knowledge of computer applications.
  • Proficient knowledge of customer service principles, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality service standards, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to project a professional image to the public.
  • Must possess organizational and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and direct a variety of administrative activities.
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet operational deadlines.
  • Ability to plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate personnel.
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to actively support the mission of Envision.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current driver’s license and driving record in good standing required.
  • Must maintain a current forklift certification.
  • Ability to successfully complete required DOT driver’s certification and successfully complete DOT physical and drug screen per DOT regulations.

Vision Requirements Include

Can be performed with or without assistive technology:

  • Required to perform activities such as: preparing/analyzing data/figures; viewing a computer screen; reading; inspecting small objects for defects; using measuring devices; and/or assembling parts with close eye contact.
  • Required to perform activities such as operating machinery and/or power tools at or within arm’s reach; performing non-repetitive tasks such as carpentry work or repairing machinery.
  • Required to review/inspect own assigned work, the work of others, or facilities or structures.

Requires Normal (or Corrected To Normal) Vision/acuity

  • Required to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment such as forklifts.
