Job Description
To assist the store manager in operating a store that stresses the importance of customer service, maintains associate morale, provides training, and maximizes sales and profits.
Job Details

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of retail or managerial experience
- Satisfactory completion of National Retail Hardware Association test within three months of starting
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Key Responsibilities
- Interact, assist, and provide prompt attention to customers and associates throughout entire store
- Assist store manager in maintaining and ensuring cleanliness and appearance of the store
- Perform tasks such as driving forklift, load outs, changing tires, and running cash registers as needed
- Conduct daily store walk-throughs to ensure standards and assign duties
- Address areas not meeting standards and follow through on priorities
- Merchandising, stock levels, prompt service, refunds, and sales
- Assist in training and maintaining knowledgeable staff
- Supervise store personnel, report issues to manager
- Manage staffing, hiring, and disciplinary actions
- Participate in ad set and maintenance
- Learn managerial responsibilities such as operations, scheduling, training, and personnel management
- Oversee inventory, order verification, and bank deposits in manager’s absence
- Handle administrative tasks, open/close store
- Engage in community involvement and non-profit activities
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; spreadsheet analysis knowledge
- High integrity and business ethics

- Ability to interpret safety and operational documents
- Forecasting, marketing, analysis skills
- Report writing and public speaking skills
- Mathematical skills for discounts, percentages, and volume
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting
- Ability to follow instructions and apply common sense

- Work well under pressure, flexible, detail-oriented
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of construction, maintenance, electrical, repair, forklift operations (helpful but not required)
- Leadership skills including coaching, delegating, planning, and supervising
- Positive attitude, good listening skills, outgoing personality
Physical Demands
Includes lifting up to 25 lbs. frequently, occasional lifting over 50 lbs., walking, standing, bending, reaching, and dexterity. Must work flexible shifts including nights and weekends. Vision and manual dexterity required.
Work Environment
Primarily inside, with occasional outside work in various weather conditions. Fast-paced with deadlines, potential hazards, and exposure to dust, fumes, odors. Protective gear may be required.
