The Assistant Store Manager plays a vital role in the store management team by developing the store team and contributing to strategic implementation and operational excellence that ensure brand equity, customer satisfaction, and financial growth. They assume responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager and/or Associate Store Manager.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong business acumen; understand organizational objectives and prioritize and budget strategically with the Store Manager to align with company priorities and values.
- Develop and execute store strategies, initiatives, and growth plans; communicate goals to the team and monitor performance to meet sales and performance targets.
- Lead and participate in training for new hires and current employees on LS&CO culture, product knowledge, service practices, loss prevention, store policies, and other responsibilities.
- Support the Store Manager in performance management, including reviews, coaching, and managing employee relations issues.
- Recruit and interview for subordinate positions, providing recommendations for hiring decisions.
- Ensure compliance with all store policies, procedures, and programs.
- Manage operational results including payroll, cash handling, and inventory control.
- Lead merchandising efforts to maintain visual standards and ensure timely product presentation and housekeeping.
- Oversee store opening and closing procedures, including cash counts, deposits, and security measures.
- Adopt and promote new technology, policies, and programs.
- Communicate effectively with the management team to align on business strategies and foster an engaging environment.
- Supervise the store team in the absence of management.
- Create a high-energy, customer-focused store environment, coaching associates on sales and service behaviors.
- Resolve customer concerns proactively, partnering with management on escalated issues.
- Maintain store appearance and safety standards, coordinating with corporate as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support store operations and team development.

- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks required in retail.
- Minimum of 3+ years retail leadership experience, with proven coaching and supervisory skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
