Job summary

Staples in Fredericksburg, VA seeks an Assistant Manager to lead a sales-driven team and deliver an exceptional store experience. You will guide staff in consultative selling, build customer relationships, and ensure readiness for business with strong leadership and collaboration.

You will drive store performance through coaching, training, and effective task delegation, while upholding Staples values and community engagement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years managing a sales team in a retail or services industry
• Experience managing and coaching a team in a customer-centric, solutions-based environment
• Must be able to engage and speak to customers and understand their needs
• Strong communication, organization, planning and adaptiveness to changing priorities
• Review results against business goals and strategies to deliver growth
• Manage conflict in a cooperative manner
• Ability to lift/move materials in the 10–50 pound range and stand/walk continuously

Responsibilities

• Develop a high-performing team focused on providing an exceptional store experience and consultative selling
• Drive conversions and provide total solutions to every customer
• Coach and train the team through coaching, training, and role playing
• Attain sales and service goals, profit margins and store operations execution
• Provide direction for merchandising opportunities and daily store operations
• Delegate operational tasks in partnership with the GM and share responsibility for cost control
• Act as Floor Leader and champion company initiatives while adapting to changes
