Learn the operations of all departments and the duties of store management; share responsibility for store performance in all areas of operation/human resources. Perform scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, administration & Human Resource-related duties. Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1 year of experience as department manager, service manager, or equivalent experience
  • Store manager/district manager or direct manager approval

Desired Qualifications:

  • Retail management experience & knowledge of all aspects of store operations
  • Staff supervisory experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist store manager & associates in achieving a favorable customer shopping experience & develop associate interest in customer service/relations to enhance Kroger's reputation
  • Assist store manager in leading teams in planning, implementing & executing merchandising/operating initiatives
  • Develop action plans/communications based on Associate Insight survey results
  • Identify store opportunities, develop solutions & create action plans for implementation
  • Model and demand high levels of customer service & resolve issues/concerns
  • Manage total store operations in store manager’s absence
  • Achieve/exceed sales, wage, profit, safety, and shrink targets
  • Drive sales and profits, reduce shrink, and improve departmental contributions
  • Discuss financial performance and develop budgets with associates
  • Analyze competitive landscape within district/division
  • Demonstrate inclusive leadership; promote inclusive behavior
  • Coordinate with field staff to achieve sales/profit goals and execute merchandising plans
  • Build relationships with community organizations and union representatives
  • Communicate effectively with staff and serve as liaison with management
  • Assist in staffing, reducing turnover, and increasing retention
  • Provide performance feedback and supervise staff
  • Ensure legal and policy compliance
