Learn the operations of all departments and the duties of store management; share responsibility for store performance in all areas of operation/human resources. Perform scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, administration & Human Resource-related duties. Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1 year of experience as a department manager, service manager, or equivalent experience
  • Store manager/district manager or direct manager approval

Desired Qualifications:

  • Retail management experience & knowledge of all aspects of store operations
  • Staff supervisory experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist store manager & associates in achieving a favorable customer shopping experience & develop associate interest in customer service/relations to enhance Kroger's reputation
  • Lead teams in planning, implementing & executing merchandising/operating initiatives
  • Develop action plans/communications based on Associate Insight survey results
  • Identify store opportunities, develop solutions & create action plans
  • Demonstrate high-level customer service & resolve issues
  • Manage total store operations in store manager’s absence
  • Achieve/exceed sales, wage, profit, safety, and shrink targets
  • Drive sales, reduce shrink, and improve departmental contributions
  • Discuss financial performance and budgets with staff
  • Analyze competitive landscape
  • Demonstrate inclusive leadership & promote inclusive behavior
  • Ensure execution of division merchandising plans
  • Build relationships with community organizations & union representatives
  • Communicate effectively with staff
  • Serve as liaison on operational effectiveness
  • Assist in staffing, reducing turnover & increasing retention
  • Provide performance feedback & coaching
  • Ensure compliance with laws & policies
  • Supervise and coach staff, complete performance reviews
