Job Description:
Position Summary:

This role is responsible for providing support to the Store Director while learning and becoming skilled in management of all areas of the store. Under the direction of the Store Director: ensure all departments are fully staffed, trained, and operating efficiently; maintain store profitability by monitoring all financial aspects of purchasing, stocking, selling, payroll, and other general expenses and income; maintain the physical location including equipment, sanitization, safety, and general appearance; communicate and execute the corporate plans. Complete all other duties as assigned in a timely manner.

Here’s what you’ll do:
  1. Regular inspections of all areas, providing feedback to department managers.
  2. Review reports, take action, and communicate information as needed.
  3. Engage in financial planning including budgeting, staffing/payroll, facility maintenance, and upgrading.
  4. Communicate and work with SpartanNash personnel.
  5. Train others to perform all department activities and functions.
  6. Manage the selection, scheduling, and supervision of staff.
  7. Greet all customers and provide prompt and courteous service or assistance.
  8. Maintain a clean, attractive, and customer-friendly department.
  9. Have familiarity with all products carried in the department; know differences in price, taste, preparation, use, etc.
  10. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  1. Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Three years of experience in a retail grocery environment with increasing responsibilities.
  3. One year of supervisory or lead role experience, preferably in retail.
  4. Proficient in computer use (email, spreadsheets, etc.).
  5. Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
  6. Accounting/Bookkeeping skills.
  7. Ability to interpret and analyze financials.
  8. Develop and manage budgets.
  9. Ability to delegate, direct, and implement tasks.
  10. Knowledge of suggestive selling and product details.
  11. Detail-oriented.
Physical Requirements:

May be required to lift and/or move 20 pounds. The associate is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk. While performing the duties of this position, the associate is subject to a typical office environment and is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions. Temperatures may vary in areas such as computer/server rooms, print shops, and production areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate but may be high in distribution settings. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
