POSITION TITLE: Assistant Store Director
DEPARTMENT: Grocery Department
REPORTS TO: Store Director
FLSA STATUS: Exempt – 47 Hours
Job Summary
Share store responsibilities and its operations with the Store Director. Coordinate and direct the overall operations of the store in the absence of the Store Director.
Essential Job Functions
- Actively support the Store Director in fulfilling their responsibilities.
- Manage store personnel.
- Assist in training and development of all employees with the Store Director and other department managers.
- Greet all customers and be observant while working.
- Handle customer complaints promptly and professionally.
- Identify and report pricing discrepancies to the proper personnel.
- Check advertisements and ensure proper displays.
- Implement and maintain all safety standards as directed by Loss Prevention and Risk Management departments.
- Oversee sanitation, housekeeping, and equipment maintenance.
- Contribute to profitable store operations.
- Enforce receiving procedures according to company policies.
- Prepare weekly schedules based on projected sales volume and workload in the absence of the Store Director.
- Assist in planning merchandise displays for maximum sales and profits.
- Monitor freshness, quality, and pricing on dairy, bread, frozen, and grocery shelves and displays.
- Follow all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
Supplemental Job Functions
- Assist in office tasks as needed.
- Conduct daily checks on refrigeration units.
- Assist in various store departments as needed.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
- High school diploma required; college education helpful but not necessary.
- At least 3 years of supermarket industry experience with management program participation.
- Working knowledge of store operations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills for calculating discounts, margins, and other figures.
- Ability to verify vendor invoices and complete accounting reports, including inventory and receiving.
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
