Brief Job Description:
Entry Level - To provide legal representation for the citizens and victims of Livingston County on criminal matters ranging from traffic to misdemeanor and DUI.
Education Requirements:
Law degree and licensed in Illinois, or taking the bar exam with a 7/11 license; have legal research experience and have exposure and willingness to conduct trial preparation and litigation work.

The Livingston County State's Attorney's Office has an immediate opening for an Assistant State's Attorney in Pontiac, Illinois, with 0-3 years of previous legal experience. The Livingston County State's Attorney's Office is responsible for the prosecution of persons violating State criminal statutes and County ordinances. The State's Attorney's Office provides legal advice and representation to the County Board, elected County officials and County department officials.
Primary responsibilities of an applicant shall include, but are not limited to, prosecuting criminal offenses in the area of traffic, driving under the influence, and misdemeanor cases from charging decisions through final disposition.
Applicants may be assigned other duties as needed. Additionally, applicants will be expected to perform legal research and prepare and argue motions and other legal documents. This full-time position requires a self-starter with exceptional organization, communication, research, and writing skills. Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment. Applicants must have strong courtroom skills for adversarial hearings including trials. Applicant must be a currently licensed attorney in good standing in Illinois or taking the July Bar Exam and eligible to work as a 711.
