The State Attorney’s Office for the Eighth Judicial Circuit of Florida seeks an Assistant State Attorney with strong judgment, a commitment to public safety, fairness, and transparency. This is an entry‑level position within a public prosecutor’s office.

Responsibilities include preparing legal documents, conducting research, taking depositions, interviewing witnesses, developing case strategies, and presenting cases in court with professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications

• Must be a 3L law student, Certified Legal Intern, or licensed Florida attorney in good standing.
• Strong interest in courtroom litigation and excellent communication and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to handle multiple cases and meet trial work demands.

Responsibilities

• Prepare legal documents and conduct thorough legal research for criminal cases.
• Take depositions, interview witnesses, victims, defendants, and other parties to ascertain facts.
• Develop prosecutorial case strategies and prepare all materials for court presentation.
• Present cases in both jury and non‑jury trials, examining and cross‑examining witnesses.
• Maintain professional interaction with the public, law enforcement, and office staff.
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated criminal justice team.
