The Assistant Special Programs Administrator/Principal directs and coordinates educational and administrative activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development, and coordination activities; researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet state standards as needed.
  • Supports the school’s Special Programs goals, ensures compliance with relevant guidelines, and applicable laws.
  • Provides direct and administrative oversight of the Special Programs to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Helps articulate the school’s mission and vision, ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and work cooperatively; relies heavily on communication technologies suitable for a virtual/remote environment.
  • Develops and oversees implementation of the student achievement plan and collaborates with the academic team.
  • Assists the grade level principal/director in daily duties to keep the department functioning and compliant.
  • Addresses parent and student concerns and issues.
  • Coordinates and implements school meetings.
  • Assists principals in evaluations and observations as per state requirements.
  • Assists with policies and procedures related to Special Education, ELL, 504, RtI Programs.
  • Ensures teachers in Special Education meet all standards and expectations.
  • Develops and shares best practices for Special Education in a virtual setting.
  • Participates in projects as directed by the Head of School or grade level principal/director.
  • Requisitions and allocates supplies, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Participates actively in all school leadership team meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 5-10 FTE employees and/or contractors, including hiring, training, evaluating, and addressing performance issues.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least three years of successful virtual teaching experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to travel 10% for meetings and events.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web tools.
  • Experience as an online educator.
  • Leadership experience.
Compensation & Benefits

Salaries are determined based on education, experience, and other factors, with an anticipated range of $52,207.20 - $173,182.80. Benefits may include health coverage, retirement, and paid time off.

Work Environment

This is a home-based position, requiring a distraction-free professional home office.
