The Jackson County State Court has an opening for Assistant Solicitor. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the preparation of cases for trial, representing the State in all stages of court proceedings, and performing additional tasks relating to the function of the department as assigned by the Solicitor.

The purpose of this assignment is to prosecute defendants in criminal trials. Successful performance in this position helps to ensure the continued safety of the public. Complexity is added by complex legal issues that occur in the job.
Must be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia or with another state’s bar association that is eligible for reciprocity admittance to the State Bar of Georgia; and be admitted to practice before the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Experience in a prosecutorial clinic, Solicitor’s Office or other District Attorney’s Office is preferred, not required. All candidates are subject to a background check. Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, criminal history background check, motor vehicle driver’s history check and pre-employment drug screening; employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation.
