Job Summary

Assist the Head Softball Coach in leading, operating, andmanaging all aspects of a competitive and academically successfulNCAA Division II Women's Softball Program at Georgia College &State University (GCSU), the state's designated Public Liberal ArtsUniversity, in accordance with the University System of Georgia,GCSU, Peach Belt Conference, and NCAA rules, regulations, andpolicies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to,assisting with recruiting, practice planning, player instruction,game strategy, academic monitoring, and community and fundraisingengagement. This position requires effective engagement withstudents, faculty, staff, the greater Milledgeville/Baldwin Countycommunity, GCSU alumni, and supports GCSU's commitment torecruiting and retaining high-achieving student-athletes consistentwith the university's selective admissions standards.

Responsibilities
Coaching & Student-Athlete Development -30%
  • Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and directing allpractices, competitions, and player development activities for thesoftball program.
  • Provide position-specific instruction and technical coaching tostudent-athletes to develop skills, strategy, and gamereadiness.
  • Assist in developing and implementing game strategies, teampreparation, and opponent scouting reports.
  • Assist in ensuring student-athlete and program compliance withUniversity System of Georgia, GCSU, Peach Belt Conference, and NCAArules and policies.
  • Support student-athlete holistic wellness and academicsuccess.
Student-Athlete Recruiting - 30%
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes whomeet Georgia College & State University's selective admissionsstandards and contribute to the competitiveness of the softballprogram.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with prospective student-athletesand their families throughout the recruitment process.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA recruiting rules and regulations,including successful completion of the annual NCAA recruitingcertification test.
Field Maintenance - 15%
  • Assist with routine field maintenance pre/post practice andpre/post-game.
  • Work cooperatively with Baseball program and FacilitiesOperations.
Other Duties - 10%
  • Assist with the organization and administration of softball campsand clinics in accordance with GCSU policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Softball Coach orDirector of Athletics.
Community Relations, Fundraising, and Game Operations -15%
  • Assist in building community support for the softball programthrough engagement with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and thegreater Milledgeville/Baldwin County community.
  • Support fundraising initiatives and external relations efforts incoordination with the Head Coach and the Office of UniversityAdvancement.
  • Serve as game manager for assigned athletic events as directed bythe Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Required Experience

One year of collegiate coaching experience or having played atleast one year of collegiate or professional softball. Collegiateor high school coaching and/or equivalent playing experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred Experience
  • Assistant or head coaching experience at the NCAA Division IIlevel or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated record of successful student-athleterecruitment.
  • Experience providing or coordinating academic support servicesfor student-athletes.
Proposed Salary

The minimum salary is $34,000.00. Starting salary within thisrange is based on relevant years of experience.
