Assistant Site Manager – The New Ennis Plaza

The Plaza Group, one of Ireland’s leading independent motorway and primary route services groups, is excited to announce the opening of a new Service Station at Ennis in autumn/winter 2025.

OBJECTIVE

Ensure the delivery of site targets for all departments within the site, in terms of sales & profitability, through effective management of all store operations, including Forecourt & Spar, with oversight of Deli, Supermac’s & Papa John’s.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure the achievement of sales and profitability targets across all departments within Tipp Town Plaza by managing operations, personnel, merchandising, local & national marketing, and controlling costs.
MANAGEMENT
  • Assist the Site Operations Manager in daily site operations, focusing on retail and forecourt activities, ensuring all departments operate efficiently for maximum profitability.
  • Support recruitment, training, and development of personnel in retail and forecourt areas, and assist other departments as needed.
  • Oversee rostering and personnel management to ensure adequate staffing within budget, maintaining high service standards.
  • Participate in management meetings and communicate effectively with the team.
  • Plan and organise all operational aspects, including Fuel, Retail (Convenience Shop), and ancillary services.
  • In the absence of the Operations Manager, take the lead, oversee operations, and set an example.
  • Manage overall site performance, driving operational excellence.
  • Implement professional merchandising, using planograms to optimise space and product offerings.
  • Manage team performance through effective performance management techniques, in line with labour law.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with managers regarding objectives and performance.
GENERAL
  • Achieve set targets.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the company.

  • Knowledge of Labour Law, Health & Safety regulations, HACCP, and Consumer Law.
  • Strong commercial awareness to anticipate and respond to market changes.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement standards.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
