Who We Are:Bayview Hunters Point Foundation has been at the heart of social justice for over 50 years, providing support services for predominantly low-income people of color in the Bayview and throughout San Francisco.

Our mission is to build a community that is empowered, clean, safe, and healthy. We are focused on multidisciplinary, community-informed support for our clients, addressing the root causes of unemployment and homelessness, and advocating for the basic human rights of food, health, economic and housing security.

Today, BVHPF’s nearly 200 employees serve over 5,000 disadvantaged clients each year. Our programs include:

  • Mental health counseling for youth and adults
  • School-based mental health services
  • Substance abuse counseling and methadone treatment
  • Family transitional and supportive housing
  • Rapid rehousing and flex pool housing programs
  • Case management services at several homeless and housing programs
  • Bayview SAFE Navigation Center

These programs are funded through nearly 20 contracts with the City & County of San Francisco, and are monitored and regulated by several authorities, including CCSF and the State and Federal government.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Site Manager (ASM) plays a key role in ensuring smooth program operations, staff accountability, and effective scheduling. The ASM will assist the Director and Assistant Director with the overall operations of the program and serve as a liaison between partners, providing consultation and support to shift supervisors and care monitors. Additionally, the ASM will be responsible for managing staff schedules in the organization's HRIS system, tracking and maintaining time-off requests, and approving timecards. They will also ensure all shifts are covered with the appropriate number of staff and must be available to work on weekends to respond to employee concerns and operational needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Program Operations & Leadership:
    • Assist the Director and Assistant Director with overall program operations.
    • Act as a liaison between partners, fostering collaboration and effective communication.
    • Provide consultation and support to Shift Supervisors and Care Monitors to ensure smooth program functioning.
    • Support the health and safety of staff and program participants by managing the physical plant, ensuring safety, hygiene, and overall facility aesthetics.
    • Respond to emergencies with clear thinking and swift action.
  • Scheduling & Timekeeping:
    • Manage staff schedules within the HRIS system.
    • Track and maintain time-off requests to ensure proper shift coverage.
    • Approve and monitor employee timecards using the time-tracking system.
    • Ensure shifts are adequately staffed to meet operational needs.
    • Be available to work on weekends to support employees and address any scheduling issues.
  • Staff Development & Supervision:
    • Train and develop staff assigned to the shift.
    • Facilitate staff meetings and provide ongoing coaching.
    • Guide employees in career growth and professional development.
    • Conduct annual performance evaluations for staff.
    • Delegate work assignments and provide consistent follow-up on progress.
    • Hold staff accountable for job responsibilities and adherence to BVHP’s values and expectations.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Complete a weekly schedule that supports business and operational needs.
    • Collaborate with leadership to improve staff efficiency and service delivery.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

This role requires a proactive leader who can balance scheduling, staff supervision, and operational responsibilities while ensuring a safe and supportive work environment. The ASM must be available to work on weekends as part of their regular duties.

What You’ll Need:

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in the field as a lead or supervisor.
  • Experience working with the homeless population.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate with other agencies.
  • A clear understanding of the issues faced by disenfranchised populations.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Valid California Driver’s License (if job functions require).
  • Able to meet required state, federal, local and BVHP standards (including, but not limited to) a comprehensive background screening and depending on the position, Live Scan fingerprinting clearance.
  • First two Covid-19 vaccinations of (Moderna or Pfizer) or one dose of Johnson & Johnson.
  • Ability to walk, sit, operate keyboards, tools, or controls and lift up to 40 pounds.
