Job summary

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and other computer programs.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire.

POSITION SUMMARY:

These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals, Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. The Assistant Site Director works closely with the Site Director to ensure the proper supervision of children and is responsible for planning and implementing a variety of recreational and educational activities which supports the children's learning and promotes self-esteem in small group settings. This person shares with Site Director the responsibility for opening and/or closing the site; supervises other staff (teachers and aides); in the absence of the Site Director. In the absence of the Site Director, the Assistant Site Director is responsible for the smooth operation of the child care center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist the Site Director in developing and implementing a creative program and age appropriate activities in accordance to YMCA philosophies.
• Responsible for the operation of the site in the absence of the Site Director.
• Maintain supervision and interacts with assigned group/area at all times.
• Compile forms, records and files requested by Site Director or Program Director.
• Maintain group behavioral limits following established site standards.
• Comply with all safety and licensing guidelines.
• Attend and actively participate in trainings offered by YMCA and other organizations.
• Assist in preparation and serving snacks.
• Assist in planning monthly activity calendar.
• Maintain a positive and healthy relationship with parents of participants.
• Lead with a positive example in conduct and communication, maintaining a physically, emotionally and socially healthy environment for participants.
• Assist in maintenance of a clean and orderly program site.
• Confer immediately with supervisor concerning suspected child abuse and follows mandated reporting procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
