Job summary

Maguire in Sioux Falls, SD seeks an Assistant Shop Foreman to back up the Shop Foreman and oversee safe, efficient fabrication and paint shop operations. This role focuses on planning, communicating, and executing processes with guidance to support production goals.

The position requires hands-on welding supervision, ability to read drawings, manage schedules, ensure quality, and uphold health and safety standards while leading a team toward timely production.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in production welding supervision is a plus but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as ASME Code, safety rules, blueprints, and procedures.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment, and overhead cranes.

Responsibilities

• Plan work order procedures; gather tools/materials as specified.
• Repair and fabricate items using welding, cutting, burning techniques.
• Monitor welding, burning, and fitting to prevent overheating or distortion.
• Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts.
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and work area.
• Operate lifting and transporting equipment; provide backup for Shop Foreman.
• Provide training and supervise employees; enforce company standards and safety policies.
• Manage production schedules and ensure quality and availability.
