Job summary

CoreCivic is recruiting for an Assistant Shift Supervisory position in a correctional/detention facility. The role will supervise officers on the shift and may serve as acting Shift Supervisor in their absence, directing staff in inmate care and the protection of rights.

Responsibilities include regular inspections of security-related functions, enforcing rules and coordinating with management. A valid driver’s license is required, and the candidate must meet minimum age requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Three years of experience in a criminal justice field required.
• One year of corrections experience preferred.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office or similar software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise assigned security staff on the shift and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff.
• Demonstrate and provide guidance to staff on adherence to safety and security practices and post orders.
• Interpret, enforce and comply with rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and contract requirements.
• Attend meetings to enhance effective communications between management, staff and inmates/residents.
• Assist in streamlining communications and maintaining consistency of operation between shifts.
