General Summary
The Assistant Manager lives VIP’s mission to EARN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE by learning the VIP culture and management processes to help the Service Manager ensure that all customers get a different & better experience. As the second in charge at the location, the Assistant Manager must be able to lead the team when the Service Manager is not working, ensuring effective communication, teamwork, and operation in serving customers at their location. The Assistant Manager ensures that the team operates under safe conditions according to established policies and procedures and in compliance with federal and state regulations. The Assistant Manager delivers an exceptional customer experience and high-performance results through helping the team achieve execution of VIP programs and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prioritize workplace safety by following all safety policies, completing all safety training, reporting unsafe conditions, and ensuring safe equipment use.
  • Serve customers by consulting, building relationships, and educating them about their vehicle condition based on inspections.
  • Achieve success in customer engagement as measured by VIP SAX score.
  • Learn and execute managerial activities assigned by the Service Manager, helping lead the team to deliver a superior customer experience.
  • Ensure all associates complete required LMS and vendor training, and are certified as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the team through daily huddles and meetings.
  • Support customer education and solutions through the 5 for 5 process.
  • Manage dispatching of work orders efficiently.
  • Attend off-site meetings and training as needed.
  • Maintain facility and equipment, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and compliance.
  • Ensure procedural compliance with all regulations and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as required and serve as policy administrator when the Service Manager is absent.

Performance Measurement

  • Support the Service Manager in achieving team performance targets through various reports.

Standard Management Work Week

  • SCHEDULE: 5 days/week, 40 hours.
  • ATTENDANCE: Be punctual and work scheduled hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of automotive services and industry standards.
  • Minimum 2 years in automotive service management or equivalent education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, ASE certifications (C1, P2, G1), and state inspection license where applicable.

Work Environment

Indoor service department with exposure to weather, chemicals, noise, and mechanical equipment. Protective eyewear required.

Physical Demands

Includes sitting, reaching, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, lifting up to 21 lbs., and other physical activities with accommodations available.
