General Summary

The Assistant Manager lives VIP’s mission to EARN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE by learning the VIP culture and management processes to help the Service Manager ensure that all customers get a different & better experience. As the second in charge at the location, the Assistant Manager must be able to lead the team when the Service Manager is not working, ensuring effective communication, teamwork, and operation in serving customers at their location. The Assistant Manager ensures that the team operates under safe conditions according to established policies and procedures and in compliance with federal and state regulations. The Assistant Manager delivers an exceptional customer experience and high-performance results through helping the team achieve execution of VIP programs and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prioritize workplace safety by following all safety policies, completing safety training, reporting unsafe conditions, and ensuring safe equipment use.
  • Serve customers through consultation, relationship building, and educating them about their vehicle's condition based on inspections.
  • Achieve above-average success in customer engagement, measured by VIP SAX score.
  • Learn and execute managerial activities as assigned, helping lead the team to deliver superior customer experiences.
  • Support the Service Manager in developing a high-performing team.
  • Ensure all associates complete required LMS and vendor training, obtain T.I.A basic automotive service certification, and study for ASE certifications as needed.

Effective communication, daily huddles, and store meetings are essential. The role involves managing work order dispatching, attending off-site trainings, maintaining facility and equipment, ensuring procedural compliance, and serving as policy administrator in the absence of the Service Manager.

Performance Measurement

The Assistant Manager supports the Service Manager in achieving team performance goals through various reports.

Standard Management Work Week
  • Schedule: 5 days, 40 hours per week.
  • Attendance: Arrive on time, work scheduled hours, and be prepared for each shift.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and automotive industry knowledge.
  • Minimum of two years in automotive service management or equivalent education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, ASE certifications (C1 required, P2 and G1 recommended), and State Inspection License where applicable.
Work Environment

Indoor service department with exposure to weather, equipment, chemicals, and noise. Protective eyewear required.

Physical Demands

Includes sitting, reaching, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, lifting, and exerting force, with accommodations available for disabilities.
