Job summary

Hireology in Anchorage, Alaska is seeking an Assistant Service Manager to oversee the shop workflow, assist technicians and customers, and promote safe work practices in a fast-paced environment.

The role reports to the Service Manager, coordinates jobs for technicians, and provides technical support over the phone with occasional travel to other branches. A strong mechanical background and administrative experience are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Two years of administrative experience.
• Strong mechanical background, 5-10 years preferred in heavy equipment service/maintenance.
• Management training and/or experience preferred.

Summary

The Assistant Service Manager manages overall workflow of the shop, assists technicians and customers when needed, and promotes safe work practices in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions

1. Provide safe and clean working environment for technicians
2. Provide training outline to trainer and service manager for techs
3. Provide safety training to technicians
4. Provide support to technicians in the field as needed
5. Line out techs on jobs
6. Coordinate jobs for technicians
7. Provide technical assistance over the phone with customers
8. Create parts requisitions for jobs
9. Communicate with manufactures on issues and technical support
10. Travel as needed to other branches to assist
11. Sign off on all work orders
12. Update backlogCreate quotes for customers and other branches
13. Promote efficiency in the shop

Education and Experience

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This is largely a sedentary role, requiring use of typical office equipment such as a computer, laptop and cell phone. Most work is completed in an office environment. The employee will be required to stand, walk, bend and will occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
