Job summary

Northeast Grocery in New York is seeking a Seafood Department team member to assist with daily operations, merchandising, and inventory control while delivering fast, friendly service to customers.

You will support the Seafood Manager with ordering, displays, and training of new clerks, ensuring sanitation standards and accurate order fulfillment in a busy store environment. The role requires basic computer skills, 18+ age, and the ability to stand and work around seafood displays.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide fast, friendly, helpful and efficient customer service at all times.
• Maintain a neat, clean and organized workstation.
• Assist with day-to-day operation of the seafood department, including merchandising, preparation, displays and inventory levels.
• Assist with ordering all seafood product merchandise and supplies; maintain ordering in absence of the seafood manager.
• Assist seafood manager with department record keeping (financial aspects, payroll, wrap).
• Ensure sanitation procedures are followed and maintained by all associates.
• Assist in training and scheduling of new seafood department associates.
• Read daily e-mails and communicate/implement directions from Seafood Merchandising.
• Perform suggestive selling, sampling and PA announcements.
• Learn and maintain computer generated ordering system.

Provides fast, friendly, helpful and efficient service to all Price Chopper customers. Responsible for assisting with the operation of the Seafood Department. Assists the Seafood Manager with budgeting and financial aspects of the seafood dept. Oversees clerks within department and monitors for proper merchandising, rotation and inventory levels of product to promote optimal opportunity for sales. Ensures that all customer orders are processed efficiently and accurately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Consistently to provide fast, friendly, helpful and efficient customer service at all times.
• Responsible for smiling, making eye contact and thanking customer upon fulfilling customer's request.
• Maintain a neat, clean and organized workstation at all times.
• Responsible for assisting with the day to day operation of the seafood department to include product merchandising, preparation, arrangements, displays and inventory levels.
• Assist with ordering all seafood product merchandise and supplies. Must be able to maintain product ordering in absence of the seafood manager.
• Responsible for assisting the seafood manager with the seafood department record keeping (i.e.: financial aspects, payroll, wrap).
• Ensure a high level of customer service and courtesy at all times within the seafood department (includes accuracy of special orders such as shrimp platters).
• Responsible for setting seafood ice display to correct corporate standards.
• Ensure that all associates adhere to company and state sanitation procedures and regulations.
• Assist Seafood Manager with the training and scheduling of all new associates within the seafood department.
• Responsible for reading daily e-mail communications from Seafood Merchandising and communicating/implementing those directions.
• Perform suggestive selling, sampling and PA announcements.
• Learn and maintain computer generated ordering system.
• Control shrink through adherence to related policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to manage others and demonstrate follow-through to achieve desired results and objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Satisfactory performance reviews.
• Basic computer skills.
• High School Degree or equivalent
• 6-12 months of related experience
