Montana Silversmiths Columbus, Montana is seeking an Assistant Retail Store Manager to partner with the Store Manager in driving daily operations, sales, and guest experiences. You will lead a team, coach on sales techniques, and ensure brand standards are upheld.

Montana Silversmiths is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Retail Store Manager to join our team! This position partners with the Retail Store Manager to oversee daily store operations, drive sales, create exceptional guest experiences, and help build a strong, engaged retail team.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Team Development

• Partner with the Retail Store Manager to recruit, onboard, train, and develop team members.
• Lead by example by providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a professional, positive environment.
• Coach associates on sales techniques, product knowledge, and customer engagement.
• Provide feedback, recognition, and performance coaching.
• Serve as Manager on Duty and provide leadership and operational oversight when the Retail Store Manager is unavailable.

Sales & Customer Experience

• Help drive store sales and achieve performance goals.
• Create memorable customer experiences that reflect the Montana Silversmiths brand.
• Analyze sales results and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Coach associates to achieve sales goals.
• Address and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.

Store Operations & Merchandising

• Assist with daily opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and register accountability.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Support inventory accuracy through receiving, transfers, replenishment, and cycle counts.
• Execute visual merchandising standards, promotional displays, and seasonal floor sets.
• Identify inventory needs and communicate replenishment opportunities to leadership.
• Promote loss prevention and ensure compliance with cash-handling and security procedures.

Brand & Community Engagement

• Support store marketing initiatives by creating engaging customer-facing content featuring Montana Silversmiths products, events, promotions, and in-store experiences.
• Collaborate with leadership and marketing on content ideas and campaigns.
• Help promote in-store events, product launches, new arrivals, and seasonal campaigns through approved channels.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of retail leadership, supervisory, or keyholder experience in a sales-driven environment.
• Proven ability to motivate, coach, and develop a retail sales team.
• Strong customer service and sales skills.
• Experience with cash handling, POS systems, and retail operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Experience supporting retail marketing or social media initiatives.
• Experience in specialty retail, jewelry, accessories, Western lifestyle, or premium branded retail is a plus.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field—or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

This is an active retail position requiring the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, move throughout the store, and assist with merchandising, inventory, and daily operations. The role may require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling merchandise and supplies, as well as bending, reaching, squatting, and using step stools or ladders.

The position also involves regular use of computers, POS systems, scanners, and other retail technology.
