Job summary

SSP America in Portland International Airport is hiring an Assistant Restaurant Manager for Deschutes Brewery. This full-time role anchors front- and back-of-house operations in a high-volume setting with strong focus on food safety and guest service.

You will lead a diverse team, manage costs, schedule staff, and ensure adherence to brand standards while partnering with airport operations to deliver a superior guest experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in restaurant/food service management.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Food Handlers’ Card and relevant safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Front and Back of House Operations and supervise team performance.
• Ensure Food Quality and Safety, recipe adherence, portion control and brand standards.
• Control Costs by managing food and labor expenses for profitability.
• Lead and Develop the Team through recruiting, training, and coaching.
• Maintain Systems and Standards, including health and sanitation regulations.
• Merchandising: manage inventory, display standards and signage.
• Office Management: oversee funds, inventory, purchasing, scheduling and payroll.
• Forecasting and Budgeting: assist in sales monitoring and budget analysis.
• Address routine issues and escalate when needed.

SSP America operates several restaurants throughout the airport, including Deschutes Brewery, Good Coffee, and Hopworks Urban Brewery. We’re looking for a motivated and experiencedAssistant Restaurant Managerto join our team!

What You'll Do:

• Oversee Front and Back of House Operations:Supervise, manage, and evaluate Team Member performance, providing feedback and ensuring task completion.
• Ensure Food Quality and Safety:Maintain recipe adherence, portion control, and compliance with brand and food safety standards.
• Control Costs:Manage food and labor expenses to maximize profitability.
• Lead and Develop the Team:Recruit, train, and guide a team of dedicated Food Travel Experts. Set goals and foster a positive, efficient work environment.
• Maintain Systems and Standards:Ensure compliance with company policies, state health, and sanitation regulations.
• Merchandising:Manage inventory, display standards, and signage.
• Office Management:Oversee funds management, inventory, purchasing, scheduling, and payroll.
• Forecasting and Budgeting:Assist in sales performance monitoring and budget analysis.
• Problem Solving:Address and elevate routine issues as needed.

What We're Looking For:

• Education:High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or relevant coursework preferred.
• Experience:2+ years in restaurant/food service management.
• Skills:Full-service restaurant management (with bar experience), proficiency in MS Office and POS systems, and strong organizational abilities.
• Certifications:Food Handlers’ Card and relevant safety certifications.
• Interpersonal Skills:Strong communication skills, ability to work with executives and diverse teams, and a proven track record in conflict resolution.
