Job summary

CoralTree Hospitality seeks an Assistant Restaurant GM for RiverPlace Hotel in Portland, OR to lead a knowledgeable front-of-house team and collaborate with the GM on dining operations.

You will monitor labor, scheduling, and daily service while delivering a memorable guest experience and building relationships that encourage repeat visits.

The role emphasizes strong communication, problem solving, and a flexible schedule in an upscale dining environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in a restaurant management role; fine dining preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Passion for crafting and personalizing guest experiences; initiative and flexibility.
• Interpersonal and organizational skills with problem solving ability.
• Flexible schedule, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• MS Office, guest reservation and POS systems knowledge.
• Food Handler and Alcohol Awareness Certifications (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests, address service issues, provide information about the restaurant and area.
• Assist in directing daily activities and staffing for food and beverage team; manage coverage and goals.
• Lead service education through training, development programs, and performance management.
• Foster opportunities for team learning and growth.
• Assist the GM with paperwork, reports, and scheduling.
• Contribute to annual budget planning; monitor cost of sales and payroll.
• Focus on growing revenues and improving department financial performance.
• Evaluate food products and staff performance; align with market position.
• Develop liquor and wine procurement strategies and pricing.
• Coordinate service area maintenance with management and external services.
• Adhere to Health and Safety regulations.
