Job summary

M&J Engineering P.C. is looking for an Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to support the Resident Engineer in managing daily inspection activities and ensuring compliance with construction requirements in Washington, D.C.

The ideal candidate will have at least 8 to 12 years of experience in transportation construction and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan.

Qualifications

• Experience managing construction projects with a focus on transportation.
• Ability to supervise field inspection personnel and coordinate inspection coverage.
• Knowledge of compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Engineer with management of daily inspection activities.
• Supervise field inspection personnel to ensure compliance.
• Review Daily Inspection Reports and quantity documentation prepared by inspectors.

Skills

Minimum 8–12 years of transportation construction experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification

Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure

NICET Level III or IV – Transportation Construction Inspection

Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training

ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I

District Erosion and Sediment Control Certification

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
