Job summary

A leading engineering consulting firm in Rockville, MD is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to support the Resident Engineer with daily construction inspection and management responsibilities. Qualifications

• 8–12 years of experience in transportation construction inspection or construction management.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Resident Engineer with construction inspection activities.
• Supervise field inspection personnel.
• Monitor contractor operations and construction progress.
• Review Daily Work Reports and quantity documentation.
• Assist with preparation and review of progress payment estimates and change orders.
• Assist in review of contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
• Coordinate maintenance of traffic operations and construction staging.
• Monitor compliance with safety requirements, environmental permits, and erosion and sediment control plans.
• Act on behalf of the Resident Engineer when delegated.

• Monitor contractor operations and construction progress.
• Review Daily Work Reports and quantity documentation prepared by inspectors.

• Assist in review of contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
• Coordinate maintenance of traffic operations and construction staging.

• Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification.
• Experience with nuclear density gauge testing operations.
