LOZIER INC. is seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to support a major NYCDOT bridge reconstruction project in the Bronx, NY.

You will assist the Resident Engineer with construction inspection, field coordination, and contract administration. The ideal candidate holds a Civil/Mechanical Engineering degree with 5+ years in bridge construction, construction inspection, or transportation projects, and an active NYS PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited four‑year college or university.
  • Active NYS Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Resident Engineer in managing daily construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
  • Conduct construction inspections to verify compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with NYC DOT personnel, contractors, utility companies, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer with regular progress and financial reporting, while monitoring project activities to identify and promptly escalate potential schedule, cost, quality, and safety risks.
  • Assist with preparation and processing of change orders and contract modifications.

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) for a major ongoing NYCDOT bridge reconstruction project in the Bronx, NY. In this role, you will support the Resident Engineer with construction inspection, field coordination, and contract administration.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in managing daily construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards
  • Conduct construction inspections to verify compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and safety regulations
  • Coordinate with NYC DOT personnel, contractors, utility companies, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer with regular progress and financial reporting, while monitoring project activities to identify and promptly escalation potential schedule, cost, quality, and safety risks.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited four‐year college or university or approved equivalent.
  • Active NYS Professional Engineer license preferred
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in bridge construction, construction inspection, or transportation infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, quality control procedures, work zone traffic control and construction safety regulations.
Preferred Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the successful delivery of infrastructure projects with agencies such as the NYC DOT, NYSDOT, MTA, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, NYSTA.
  • Experience with construction contract administration, payments, change orders, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Strong communication, coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to accommodate flexible work schedules and extended hours, including nights and weekends, when required for project operations.

The salary range for this position is $175K - $185K annually.
