Responsibilities

  • Maintain residents’ skin integrity by turning immobile residents and applying moisturizers.
  • Check vital signs, weigh residents, and collect specimens as assigned by charge nurse.
  • Ensure high quality service with compassionate care.
  • Report exposures to blood or infectious materials according to policy.
  • Report injuries to supervisor promptly.
  • Complete trainings and skills competency as required.
  • Participate in life safety drills and emergency trainings.
  • Assist with evacuation during emergencies if needed.
  • Protect PHI and report policy non-compliance or confidentiality breaches.
  • Report allegations of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment to supervisor.
  • Report any retaliation or crime suspicions to HR/state authorities.
  • Fulfill duties during emergencies and as assigned by leadership.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Resident Care Director to join our team in Stafford, VA. The ideal candidate will provide direct nursing care, clinical supervision, and support to ensure the highest quality of care for our residents in a safe, respectful, and homelike environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and document medication and treatments per physician’s orders, accurately recording all care provided to residents.
  • Provide direct nursing care and clinical supervision of nursing assistants working with residents.
  • Contribute to continuity of care and effective communication by promptly reporting care provided and any changes in residents’ conditions to the Resident Care Director.
  • Participate in routine resident care activities, including assistance with daily living and basic nursing procedures.
  • Assist residents with lifts, moves, and transports using proper body mechanics or lifting devices to prevent accidents.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries and requests from residents, visitors, and other personnel within established policies and time frames.
  • Be knowledgeable of individualized care plans and provide support according to each resident’s needs and preferences.
  • Contribute to the care planning process by providing specific information and observations to charge nurses or care planning staff.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors to promote a homelike environment.
  • Fully understand and uphold residents’ rights, including the right to be free from restraints and abuse; promptly report any incidents or evidence of abuse or rights violations to appropriate staff.
  • Drive company vehicle as required.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures, including thorough handwashing, use of disposable gloves, and proper disposal of soiled materials.
  • Maintain residents’ skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers, skin tears, and other damage by changing incontinent residents, turning and repositioning immobile residents, and applying moisturizers as needed.
  • Perform various tasks assigned by the charge nurse, such as checking vital signs, weighing residents, applying creams/ointments, and collecting specimens.
  • Ensure residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that respects individual needs and rights.
  • Report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, or hazardous chemicals according to facility policy.
  • Report work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to your supervisor.
  • Complete all assigned training and skills competency as a condition of employment.
  • Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings.
  • Fulfill responsibilities assigned during implementation or activation of the facility’s emergency plan, including assisting with resident evacuation if necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) in all forms of communication.
  • Report non-compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel.
  • Protect residents from abuse and cooperate fully with all investigations.
  • Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator.
  • Report any retaliation or discrimination to the Human Resource Director and the Compliance Officer.
  • Fulfill individual responsibility to report any suspicion of a crime to law enforcement and the state agency.
  • Perform other duties as requested and as required by state regulations.
  • Adhere to scheduled shifts assigned by the Executive Director or Supervisor.
