JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Student Affairs and the Residence Life are looking for dynamic and energetic individuals to join our team as part-time Temporary Coordinators. These positions will report to an Associate or Assistant Director supervising a staff of Resident Assistants, as well as overseeing the daily activities of buildings housing up to 200 students.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supervision:
    Directly or indirectly supervising Resident Assistants
    Conducting regular individual and group supervision meetings
    Evaluating Resident Assistant performance
    Providing support and training for Resident Assistants
Student Development and Residence Education:
    Assisting with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a residence education program for the area
    Assisting with the development and implementation of campus-wide initiatives
    Advising student groups in the area
    Making referrals to University agencies when appropriate
    Encouraging student involvement in residential and University engagement opportunities
    Promoting area government
    Advocating for students by communicating their concerns and issues to the appropriate agency
    Advising individual students with academic, career, and personal concerns
    Interpreting and enforcing University and residence hall policies and procedures
    Mediating conflicts between and among students
Administration:
    Assisting with the daily operation and organization of the area and the area office
    Handling requests for room changes and contract releases
    Assisting in promoting the safety and security of area residents
    Assisting in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Housing and Food Services, Safety and Security, New Student Programs, etc.
    Providing on-call duty coverage
Community Development:
    Demonstrating a commitment to students and the quality of their life in the residence hall environment
    Encouraging Resident Assistants to become well-acquainted with students in the area
    Assisting the Resident Assistants in developing and promoting a positive living environment
    Demonstrating a commitment to diversity and social justice
    Planning and implementing programs in conjunction with Resident Assistants and students
    Demonstrating a commitment to staff and student retention and recruitment efforts, particularly as they impact members of underrepresented groups
Miscellaneous:
    Assisting in the development and implementation of goals for the area and the residence hall system
    Performing other duties as assigned
Applicants should possess thorough understanding of the role and purpose of residence hall living as it applies to student development. Positions will work a minimum of 20 hours and up to 40 hours a week. Start date will be as soon as possible. If providing on call coverage, housing will be provided.
A driver's license preferred but not required. If driving as part of job duties, a valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
