Job Summary

The Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University is recruiting for an Assistant Research Scientist. The purpose of this position is to have a scientist with medical knowledge and research experience to conduct studies on human samples and mouse models for cancer signaling and drug development in precision medicine research. Responsibilities include lab management, purchasing, safety protocols, independent research, manuscript and grant preparation, and collaborative work with other scientists and students. This is a non-tenure track position.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct scientific research independently - 60%
    Planning, executing experiments, and analyzing data.
  2. Mentor students and assist with their research - 5%
    Support students in their research projects.
  3. Prepare manuscripts and grant applications - 30%
    Data and figure preparation, submission processes.
  4. Manage purchases and safety protocols - 5%
    Handle procurement and ensure safety training compliance.

Required Qualifications

PhD or equivalent from an accredited institution.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This is a full-year, full-time position with salary based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, and wellness options. Employees with over 6 months of service may be eligible for Tuition Assistance. Salary and rank are determined at hire, with promotion opportunities through annual review.
