Functions

Responsible for the direct supervision of children and residents participating in the recreational program. Enforces applicable rules and provides assistance as needed.

  • Motivate client participation in the recreation program.
  • Monitor the recreational activities to ensure compliance with established regulations. Submit monthly assessments for program effectiveness.
  • Assist with the implementation of scheduled recreational activities.
  • Organize and implement all holiday activities for residents.
  • Maintain all records in accordance with Serenity House policies and regulated agencies such as: attendance forms, permission slips, monthly schedules and reports, trip forms, lesson forms, etc.
  • De-escalate conflicts among the client population through non-violent intervention using security guards as back up.
  • Instructs and demonstrates to groups and individuals the basic rules and finer points of various sports.
  • Issues, collects and accounts for recreation equipment. Inventory and maintain all recreational equipment and supplies for quarterly submission.
  • Plan all activities within the confinements of the recreational budget.
  • Assist with supervising and monitoring of all participants in the After School Program.
  • Develop and maintain a structured After School Program consisting of a Study Hour, lunch period and a structured socialization period for the youngsters of Serenity House.
  • KITCHEN AND PREPARATION OF FOOD:
  • Prepares nutritious breakfast, lunch & snacks in accordance to USDA guidelines.
  • Follows recipes menu and portion controls
  • Ensures that food is prepared in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Cleaning, sanitizing and the organization of food products and utensils in kitchen on a routine basis, (i.e. Refrigerator, Freezer, Shelves, Dishes).
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Two years of college and one year of related experience or high school diploma and two years of related experience. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of recreational activities in the community. Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English). Experience working with children of all ages. Must have excellent communication skills, Food Safety Certification.

Compensation And Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of New York State and City pay transparency laws. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individuals’ competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience and performance in the role.

Compensation

The base salary compensation being offered for this role is between $37,852 per year.
