JOB SUMMARY:Assists the Director or Racing/Racing Secretary in the implementation of the organization's live thoroughbred racing program by performing the following duties.
DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:- Records daily entries and checks eligibility under conditions of the race.
- Maintains tabulations relative to horses' eligibility.
- Oversees the draw of races, determining preference of horses if race overfills.
- Oversees the daily scratches.
- Performs final check of eligibility of horses with the aid of the Daily Racing Form and Equibase.
- Maintains contact with horsemen to ensure they have not overlooked stakes or racing opportunities.
- Assistants Director of Racing/Racing Secretary in preparing condition books.
- Confers with Placing Judges to assure accuracy of the program proof.
- Will abide by all safety requirements as outlined in the Safety Manual or as required by individual departments and/or job functions.

RISK MANAGEMENT:
Will manage risk factors within the company department or division employed, in such a way as to eliminate company exposure to insurance claims and legal/court challenges. Ensures that all company, department or division activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations. This includes but is not limited to adherence to Human Resource, safety and workers' compensation policies and procedures.
EDUCATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Horse Racing Commission
