Job summary

Haddad Plumbing and Heating Inc. seeks an Assistant Purchaser to join our Newark, NJ team.

You will support the Purchasing Manager in sourcing and purchasing materials, assist with purchase orders, cost verification, inventory tracking, and vendor coordination to ensure timely deliveries and competitive pricing. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within purchasing while collaborating with internal teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 Year of experience in purchasing, preferably in the Plumbing and HVAC related industry.
• Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Word.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Verify incoming and outgoing Purchase Orders and Packing Slips.
• Track and update inventory, ensuring accurate records in Inventory Programs.
• Create purchase orders, track and monitor their status.
• Issue and verify all costs of purchase orders according to project estimates.
• Create and present reports on inventory levels, discrepancies, and other data to Purchasing Manager.
• Procure material and equipment by negotiating cost, delivery schedule and terms with vendors.
• Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery.
• Participate in project meetings to understand delivery schedules.
• Monitor Purchasing Clerk to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
• Meet daily with Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Clerk to review delivery schedules and open Purchase Orders.
• Assist with various Purchasing Tasks as requested by Purchasing Manager.
