Job summary

The Town of Southwick is seeking a qualified professional for the position of Assistant Public Works Director. This role works directly with the Public Works Director in the administration, planning, and oversight of DPW operations, including engineering, highway, water, sewer, solid waste, stormwater management, and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include coordinating projects; managing MS4/stormwater compliance, inspections, and reporting; overseeing consultants and contractors;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Eight years of equivalent experience.
• Five years of managerial/supervisory experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, computer, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of public works operations, CAD platforms, and ArcGIS.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering and public works projects.
• Manage MS4/stormwater compliance, inspections, and reporting.
• Oversee consultants and contractors.
• Prepare bid specifications, reports, and grant applications.
• Assist with departmental budgeting and long-range planning.
• Coordinate with Town departments, utilities, residents, and state and federal agencies.
