The role involves performing legal research, drafting, reviewing, and filing pleadings; attending court hearings and prosecuting cases on behalf of the State of Ohio; and representing County and Township officials in civil matters.

Qualifications

• Must have Juris Doctorate and 2–4 years' experience as a practicing attorney.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly organized, and self-motivated.
• Must be capable of passing a comprehensive pre-employment background.
• Must be a lawyer in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court.

Responsibilities

• Performs legal research; analyzes legal issues; prepares, reviews, and files pleadings; represents the State in trials and hearings.
• Represents County and Township officials in civil litigation; drafts opinions, motions, and memorandums; handles appeals and tax matters.
• Attends meetings; provides legal advice to clients; responds to public information requests; may be assigned to special projects.
• Maintains licensures, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
• Ensures safety and compliance with applicable standards; demonstrates regular attendance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned; attends staff meetings as needed.
