The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office is interviewing candidates for an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney ("APA") position. The Prosecutor's Office represents the State of Michigan in matters before the Michigan district and circuit courts. APAs handle criminal, delinquency, neglect and family support matters. APAs routinely conduct hearings and jury and bench trials. The Prosecutor's Office is looking for candidates who want to make a difference in their community, who can make a connection with victims, judges, jurors and their colleagues, and who have a strong work ethic and academic background. Experience in juvenile or criminal justice, including experience before, during or after law school, is a plus. APAs are expected to diligently review and prepare their files, research legal issues, advocate in front of judges and juries, and exercise good judgment. APAs must uphold the highest ethical standards at all times. As an APA, you are a minister of justice, and you are empowered to do the right thing in every case. APAs receive valuable training and experience that you can't get anywhere else.
Wage Range: $76,650 - $159,314 with excellent benefits.
Education: Must have graduated from an accredited law school and be a member of the State Bar of Michigan, or pending membership
Experience: Post law school experience preferred, but not required.
