Job summary

The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan seeks a qualified attorney to review and authorize requests for juvenile petitions and warrants, and to conduct pretrials, status conferences, and trials in district and juvenile courts. Qualifications

  • Requires a law degree from an ABA Accredited Law School.
  • License to practice law in good standing in Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews criminal warrant requests from state and local law enforcement agencies and determines whether adequate grounds exist to authorize a warrant, juvenile petition or if additional investigation is required
  • Prepares criminal cases for trial, motions, sentencings, probation violation hearings and other proceedings.
  • Appears in court for hearings, arraignments, motions, trials, and sentencings.
  • Drafts motions, briefs and other legal documents.
  • Be on-call as the duty prosecutor over weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
  • Handles appeals from district court.

Financial Information
  • $86,124 to $88,708 beginning 1 January 2027, plus benefits package, including a 4% employer match on deferred compensation retirement plan.
