Responsibilities

A Day in the Life of an Assistant Property Manager:

As an Assistant Property Manager, you will assist the District Manager in managing daily operations of a multi-family community. Your duties include resident relations, customer service follow-up, supervising on-site staff, and administrative tasks. Effective customer service, efficiency, and a commitment to our mission of exemplary service are essential.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing community bookkeeping: bills, purchase/change orders, A/P, A/R, delinquencies, collections, invoicing.
  • Assisting with community budget and achieving operational/financial goals.
  • Training, coaching, and supervising office staff.
  • Collecting rent, sending delinquency notices, maintaining accurate financial records, and verifying/adjusting BAH.
  • Communicating with vendors and contractors regarding billing.
  • Ensuring resident concerns are addressed promptly to maintain satisfaction.
  • Mentoring Customer Service Representatives and other staff.
  • Performing general office duties: phones, filing, special projects.
  • Handling administrative tasks and data entry using various software (Payscan, Yardi, etc.).
  • Drafting and distributing notices and correspondence.
  • Participating in property inspections to ensure standards are met.
  • Attending departmental or regional meetings and events.
  • Traveling as needed for work-related purposes.
Qualifications

Requirements for Success:

  • Minimum 2 years of residential property management experience; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and property management software (Yardi, Payscan).
  • Fair Housing certification required within 2 weeks of employment if not already certified.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet operational objectives.
  • Positive, professional demeanor at all times.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle or electric cart.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and respond to emergencies.
  • Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations.
  • Willingness to travel for training, meetings, and work-related activities.
