SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

Under the supervision of the Property Manager, the Assistant Property Manager (APM) assists in the overall operation of the property, implements policies, procedures, and programs, maintains occupancy levels, and fosters a supportive environment for all residents, including those with special needs. The APM interacts with vendors and supports onsite staff. This role involves managing properties with programs such as Tax Credit, PBV, No Place Like Home, and Case Management.

Responsibilities
  • Interview and screen prospective residents for occupancy.
  • Prepare, process, and sign leases and rules.
  • Purchase supplies and services following company policies.
  • Assist with inspections and monitor work orders.
  • Collect rent, issue receipts, and prepare deposits using Boston Post property management software.
  • Write warning letters and legal notices to residents.
  • Submit reports and maintain records according to JSCo policies.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Strong problem-solving, listening, and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • 1-2 years of property management experience, preferably with Tax Credit properties.
  • Experience managing affordable housing complexes.
  • Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel for training.
  • Knowledge of company policies, federal, state, and local laws, including Tax Credit Section 42.
